Introduction

One of the most important prayers one should make for oneself daily is for Divine revelation. This is because God who created this world is Spirit [John 4:24] and hence a mystery. God has therefore fashioned this world in such a way that only those who see things from the divine perspective can truly understand Him and faithfully honor and serve Him here! Divine revelation
is the grace that God releases upon His people which enables them to see beyond the physical into the spiritual realm of things to his glory. Little wonder, Jesus Christ got alarmed at Nicodemus, the learned but spiritually blind Pharisee thus: “Are you the Teacher of Israel and do not know these things?” John 3:10. Jesus’ alarm arose out of his terrible ignorance of the
truth “that unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” John 3:3.

This prayer for divine revelation is also very crucial because God’s enemy, Satan falsely claims to have control of the spiritual realm and works very hard at deceiving millions of people around the world to believe him! He even goes further to command them to worship him because of such terribly false claims. Satan was at it in the Garden of Eden when he firmly but falsely
promised Eve thus: “You will not surely die.” Genesis 3:4-5. When death eventually came in fulfilment of God’s word, Satan abandoned them and scampered away, leaving them spiritually dead and estranged from God with grave consequences! Gen. 3:8-19. When this sad scenario continued to play out in the lives of the Jews many years later, Prophet Hosea lamented: “My
people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” 4:6a. It is so sad that in spite of the supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross and His powerful resurrection from the grave, many are still under the destructive captivity of spiritual ignorance with its attendant current and eternal results! Galatians 3:1-3. Let us therefore prayerfully consider a few truths the Lord needs to
open our eyes to know about divine revelation.

First, we need to be born into the realm of divine revelation. Access into the realm of the Spirit of God from where insight and understanding comes to us is essentially a function of the grace of God released through Christ Jesus our Lord. We thank God for this richly available amazing grace which has been revealed to all men according to Titus 2:11. It was this grace that drew
and attracted Nicodemus to Jesus at night and eventually got him born again into the realm of the Spirit. Friend, are you born again? This is life’s most crucial question, for Jesus insists that “that which is born of the flesh [natural birth] is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit [Spiritual birth] is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ – John 3: 6-7.
Make use of this flowing grace today to be born again.

Second, we need to know as believers that those who are with us are greater than those who are against us. 2 Kings 6:8-23. In this passage, Elisha’s servant became sore afraid at the sight of countless number of mounted horses and chariots that came from Syria by night and surrounded their city! But his anointed and spiritually sighted boss calmed him down, praying for
God to truly open his eyes into the spiritual realm to see what was actually happening. God answered that prayer and “opened the eyes of the young man to see that the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” This revelation transformed him greatly as God followed it up with victory. In the midst of the battles, struggles and ambush of the devil against us today, we need this revelation that those who are with us are greater than those against us. This is because God has given his angels charge over us to keep us to keep us in all our ways. Psalm 91:9-12.

Third, we need to have God graciously usher us into a revelation of his glory while on earth! Apostle John was ostracized to die on the Island of Patmos by the terrible government of his day! But while in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, Jesus Christ personally appeared to him in a glorious manner: “I heard a behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, “I am the Alpha and
the Omega…then I turned around to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven golden lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet …His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow and His eyes like a flame of fire…and when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He
laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead and behold, I am alive for evermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and Death…” Rev. 1:1-20. This encounter renewed John to successfully complete the book of Revelation we are all enjoying today. Therefore, let this prayer remain on your lips:
“Open my eyes, O Lord.” Then, your race will be completed in victory and joy.
